Later he met officials of various departments and reviewed the situation. Mr. Srihari asked the officials to be alert round the clock and ensure incident-free jatara.

  • The jatara begins on January 31 when tribal priests bring Saralamma from Kannepalli village.
  • On February 1, they will bring Samakka from Chilkalagutta, two kilometres away from Medaram.
  • On February 2, both the deities would adorn the altar.
  • On Friday, which is considered auspicious, large numbers of devotees are expected to throng the venue. On February 3, the jatara would conclude with priests taking the deities back to the villages.

Work on the facilities for devotees had already been launched and the government planned to put in place 5,000 mobile toilets and dressing rooms at Medaram. Drinking water would be supplied to the visitors, for which youth organisations would be positioned on 24x7 basis.
